I have definitely exceeded 30k, and I'm back in school finishing up my degree, and getting my master's as well. I obviously think it should be less expensive, but it's much more than the money I'm spending. It's that this degree is a reward to myself for my hard work and determination-- I can't put a price on something that will make me proud of myself.

I'll be paying off my student loans until I'm 50+. In this economy, it is simple not mathematically logical to go to college without promise of a career that pays it off.

No. Especially not a liberal arts degree. I know people will disagree with me, but I just don't think it is worth $200K to get a degree in art history.

I notice that WHERE I went to college impresses people more than what I got my degree in. Yet, I also believe more and more employers are interested in ability rather than schooling. My experience is different though because I didn't graduate with significant debt. If I was going to burden myself with 30K+ debt after graduating, I'd definitely rethink getting degree and look into alternative options because, ultimately, a degree isn't a requirement for a successful career - talent and capability are.

I have a friend who is graduating with $400,000 in student loans. Imagine starting your life with that much money hanging over your head? No thx.

Sure, the conversation around college's necessity IS changing, but right now going to college def matters.
