having social anxiety and being a freshman in college, yeah it is crippling at times. the best thing to do is talk to your doctor about it and they can refer you to someone who can help. i've had social anxiety since I was in middle school around 7th grade. I believe is was caused because my best friend moved away and i had no one else and everything just kinda went downhill from there. As I got into high school it got a whole lot worse and I go through most things that poor girl goes through still as a freshman in college. I think it gets worse as you get older. At least it did for me. It started really affecting me highly my senior year in high school. To help with the panic attacks I have medication but cognitive behavioral therapy can also help those who suffer from any anxiety disorder. The struggle is to make people understand that social anxiety is a very real thing and it's most commonly mistaken for shyness. However, it is much bigger and deeper than that.

This poor girl, I had no idea it could get so bad.

Social anxiety can be so crippling. I have definitely experienced socially-induced panic in the past, but was luckily able to work through it as a preteen before it became an ongoing problem.
